Award-winning novelist, editor and writing trainer

Picture
I have been working with words all my life. My first children's novel, The Man Who Snarled at Flowers, won the M-Net Book Prize, then the biggest literary award in South Africa.

My latest book, The Essentials of Great Writing, which draws on some of the world's most brilliant authors for inspiration, was published in Sydney in August 2009. It is based on my years of experience giving innovative business writing courses in Australia to top corporations, government departments and not-for-profit organisations, and writing speeches, case studies, brochures and many other documents.

Exciting writing training courses

I am currently Managing Partner of Express Editors, a Sydney-based communication consultancy that writes, edits and gives writing training courses for a wide range of blue-chip clients.

Enrol now for a public session in Sydney on 30 April 2012 of my advanced business writing course Winning words: writing to engage and influence. You will learn to lift the intensity of your writing using the special word skills used by great leaders and writers for centuries to inspire and motivate. See how persuasive words can be.

Or try one of our other writing courses:

Boost your business writing skills. This course will help you to cut the waffle and write in an incisive way that achieves your aims and builds your reputation.

Mark your words: editing to perfection. Polished, error-free copy helps you and your firm to leave a sparkling impression. This course will equip you with the editing and proofreading skills you need to smooth out the roughest copy.

Make your point: writing clear and concise reports
. Are you tasked with compiling, writing or editing an annual or other major report? This course will teach you how to turn a complex mass of information into a well-organised, convincing document.

Express Editors recently added a brand-new course to our suite of business writing courses. I have joined forces with top trainer and presentation coach Chemene Sinson to present Speak your mind: advanced presentation skills.

Making great speeches and presentations is a key to executive success. Yet many of us are nervous about appearing before audiences, and often fail to connect with, motivate and inspire them. I teach you how to write a speech that wins the hearts and minds of your audience, and Chemene trains you to deliver it with flair and confidence. Read more

I have been Editor-in-chief of Reader's Digest magazine in South Africa and then in Australia. Before that I worked as a senior journalist on both daily and Sunday newspapers.
