My Books
My novel for older children, The Man Who Snarled at Flowers, was published by Tafelberg in South Africa. It won the M-Net Book Prize in 1992, then the biggest literary award in that country. It beat adult books by notable authors such as Andre Brink and Njabulo Ndebele.
An environmental fantasy, it tells the story of a boy who finds himself in a strange world of exceptional beauty that is being destroyed by its greedy leader. Only the boy, with his makeshift band of talking animals, can save this world. My adult novel, The Stooping of Aquila, is a thriller also published in South Africa. It too has an environmental theme - in this case, saving a wild area of Table Mountain from development. My writing style book, The Essentials of Great Writing, which draws on some of the world's most brilliant authors for inspiration, was published in Sydney in August 2009. It is based on my years of experience developing and delivering business writing courses in Australia. |
